Boris Anikin was born in St. Petersburg in 1947. He finished at the Art School attached to the Academy of Fine Arts in 1965 and entered the Academy in 1966, graduating in 1974. A Member of the All-Russia Art Union since 1982, he has illustrated more than 150 books. He has worked with famous Russian publishing agencies such as Fiction Literature, Literature for Children, Russian Writer and others, as well as with magazines such as Bonfire, Neva-River and Aurora. He has received many awards from Russian publishing agencies.
In recent years he has concentrated on his original and distinctive paintings, in watercolour, oil and pastel, many of which are in private collections and galleries in Europe and America.
He spent five successful years in England, but in 2001 returned to live in St Petersburg, the source of his inspiration. In addition to his painting he continues with his illustration work for Russian publications.
