Armen Gasparian was born in 1966 in the south of Armenia and he has been living and working in St Petersburg since 1984, where he also studied at the Faculty of Arts.

Armen sees his work as a visual pondering about existence and dealing with questions about who we are and where we are going. He creates his own worlds in which to ask these questions, even if he doesn’t have the answers.

His work is full of symbolism and allegories, and he would describe is as metaphysical. He would use this term to describe something ‘further than physics’ and the things that we do not see or the things that cannot be explained by science.
